BUT, HUF is a little bit different to last year. Hopefully, a little bit better, certainly a little bit BIGGER!
There is ONE big Change to last year. In 2019, we solved the problem of all the fabulous community groups performing to very small crowds. The reason being that everyone was in the workshops all day. We made the Saturday the workshop and Gala Concert day. While the Sunday went all out with community groups performances, open mics and group strummalongs across 3 different stages.
Where do we go from there you might ask?
Firstly, The Hills Ukulele Festival is now The Hills International Ukulele Festival! Yes, we are pleased to announce our headline act is world renowned artist RIO from Japan. This is his first trip to Australia and we are just so happy to have him run a workshop and perform for you.
Secondly, we are adding a third day! On Friday the 15th of May, AUTLA (Australian Ukulele Teachers & Leaders Association) will be running a whole day PD for classroom and instrumental ukulele teachers as well as ukulele group leaders.
Thirdly, we are moving up to 4 stages for the Sunday! That means even more community groups get to perform on the Sunday the 17th of May
The Sunday is FREE, although we do ask that you make a gold coin donation to Emerald Primary School for the use of their excellent facilities.
We have more Strummalongs and Open Mic opportunities than last year.
The HUF Awards are back on the Sunday, check out the page to get the details.
